Matting is available on request: the painting will be professionally mounted on acid free foam board with archival quality white mat, ready to fit a standard 16x20inch frame (approx 40x50cm). It costs an additional $50 and there will be a wait time of 1-2 weeks before it is ready to ship.

Couldn't load pickup availability
This painting was inspired by the various blackbird babies who appear in our garden every spring and perch here and there - looking delightfully fat and fluffy - while waiting for their overworked parents to bring them the next meal.
I wanted to portray these two as slightly flustered and agog at this interesting and colourful new world they have landed in! The butterfly is a yellow admiral - these are also yearly visitors to our garden and one of my favourite NZ butterflies.
I chose the soft yellow colour for the background to portray the brightness and new life of spring and to compliment the warm red and brown tones of the rest of the painting.
